The project "Utilisation of wet biomass in Surselva using the HTC process" is being carried out by AlpEnForCe on behalf of the Regiun Surselva. The project includes a feasibility analysis for the utilisation of biomass (green waste, sewage sludge, catering waste) in the Surselva.
The aim would be to recycle the energy-rich biomass produced in the region (closed-loop concept). The approach is to carbonise the biomass using the HTC (hydrothermal carbonisation) process. The resulting biochar could be utilised in the regional district heating networks.
